Overview
The project COMMUNICARE aims to improve the provision of guidelines to facilitate the induction of nursing staff in different wards and make communication between wards more efficient. This should make more effective use of nursing staff's working time, prevent malpractice and improve patient care.Problem
In care facilities, a lack of quality management guidelines and the resulting misconduct lead to increased staff turnover among nursing staff. They are often transferred to other wards unprepared, as they only have two hours per year to familiarise themselves with all the hospital's procedures. This makes it difficult for them to absorb and remember all the relevant information. How can care documentation and the provision of guidelines for nursing staff be optimised in order to use time more efficiently and have routines and guidelines readily available at all times?
Process
With the help of empathy maps and the value proposition canvas, user needs were analysed on the basis of a persona in order to offer a suitable value and benefit proposition and achieve a problem-solution fit. It was crucial to record each individual step and document all actions in this use case. In order to obtain a more comprehensive picture of the situation, the needs and problems associated with each action were also recorded.
Solution Approach
The solution comprises a technological ecosystem. Caregivers can receive or provide input via an AI assistant using both voice and gesture control. The content is communicated to them visually or audibly. The hardware that the AI assistant can access includes smartwatches, tablets and in-ear headphones. These devices are all connected to the ecosystem and are in constant contact to enable the transfer of information, messages and actions. The smartwatch and in-ear speakers are always with the caregiver, but only respond to their action triggers to ensure data protection and privacy.
The tablet serves as the main source of information and covers all relevant functions for carers. The aim is to break down complex content and present it in an easily understandable way on the tablet in order to cope with the flood of information.
