Overview

Most music apps are focused on searching for new music. Community aspects are less common and could be a high unique factor in addition to the other features when expanded. I wanted to use this potential to develop a community-based interaction concept without missing the classic music features.

Problem

How can I develop an interaction concept for users within the music community that makes it easier to find like-minded people, stimulates exchange and at the same time retains the musical individuality of the user?

Process

In order to find gaps in a saturated market, it was important to view music as dimensions for the user. After careful analysis, the layers within the music provided insights into which dimensions of interaction had not yet been exploited and could offer potential for innovation. Many competitors do not consider reflecting music for the user to be a unique selling point. Most service providers focus on discovering new music rather than offering features that give users space to make themselves more visible with the music they identify with. With this in mind, I developed a streaming concept to better connect like-minded music lovers with the community as a unique selling point.

Solution Approach

In wavey, all fields of interaction of a music listener are to be covered: Discovering, consuming, managing and reflecting on music. Individuals and communities are in direct exchange with each other in order to be inspired by others. The virtual social space refers exclusively to musical topics so as not to lose focus on them.
